FAQ

Everything you need to know.

What is Retrolab?

Retrolab is the film filter app for digital cameras. Shoot on anything — plug in — pick your look. Better filters, no friction, any camera.

Which cameras does it work with?

Any digital camera that connects via USB-C and outputs JPGs. Camp Snap, digicams, screenless digitals, point and shoots, thrift store finds — if it shoots JPGs and has a USB-C port, Retrolab works with it.

How do I get my photos into Retrolab?

Plug your camera into your Mac with a USB-C cable, choose your filter, and import. That's it.

What makes Retrolab filters better than the ones on my camera?

The filters on your camera are limited by what the hardware can do. Retrolab runs on your Mac, which means richer colour grades and authentic film grain — the kind of quality that's simply not possible in-camera.

Do I need to copy filter files to my camera first?

No. That's the whole point. Filters live inside Retrolab. You pick one after you shoot, apply it, and you're done. No USB transfers, no firmware updates, no prep before you go out.

Will applying a filter change my original photos?

Never. Retrolab exports a new styled copy to your Mac — your originals are untouched. Change your mind, try a different look, reprocess anytime.

Is it free?

Yes — Retrolab is free to download with a set of filters included. Additional filters are available to buy separately.

Is Retrolab available on Windows or other platforms?

Retrolab launches on Mac first. Support for other platforms is on the roadmap.
